In the main entrance to the Cathedral from Tom Quad, war memorials show the names of all those members of the college and cathedral community, including staff, who lost their lives in the First and Second World Wars.

Violet Moberly – daughter of Canon Moberly, buried in his family grave in the cloister garth.
Violet Moberly served with the VAD as part of the 3rd Southern General Hospital, which occupied many university and civic buildings in Oxford, including the Examination school and Town Hall. The 3rd Southern General Hospital treated an incredible breadth of cases, from malaria to ‘nerve cases’ and had several notable patients, including Robert Graves, Siegfried Sassoon, and R.H. Tawney.
