Staying at Christ Church

Christ Church offers a unique opportunity for members of the public to stay in vacant student bedrooms. If you are visiting Oxford during the Easter and Summer holiday periods, why not stay as guests of the college? You can be base either on the main site or at one of our two annexes: 117 St Aldates, a three-minute walk from Christ Church; or the Liddell Building in East Oxford.

Christ Church can only accommodate adults (aged 18 and over). This includes babies/children sharing a room with adults. If such a booking is made you will be asked to cancel it, and the refund amount will be in line with T&Cs, or if you arrive at the property you will be refused entry and no refund will be given.

Check in from 3pm and Check out by 10am. (If the room is not vacated by 10am, a fee may apply.)

On arrival, all guests will be asked to check their details and sign a guest information form (required under the Immigration (Hotel Records) Order 1972). Non-UK guests will also be required to provide the number and place of issue of their passport, their nationality and their next destination. These records must be kept for at least 12 months and be available for inspection by any police officer.

FAQs

  • I need to change my booking. How can I do this?

Our Bed & Breakfast bookings are managed by University Rooms, all amendments and cancellations must go through the website www.universityrooms.com and be within the booking cut-off times. (To log into your account, you will need your email address and the password you have received in your booking confirmation email.) Once you have checked in it is not possible to amend/cancel your booking or part of it. For all other queries please email: conferenceoffice@chch.ox.ac.uk

  • Do you allow children to stay at Christ Church?

Christ Church can only accommodate adults (aged 18 and over). This includes babies/children sharing a room with adults. If such a booking is made you will be asked to cancel it, and the refund amount will be in line with T&Cs, or if you arrive at the property you will be refused entry and no refund will be given.

  • There is no availability shown on the calendar. Why is this?

It is only possible to stay during the vacation period: March/April, July, August and September, outside of these times no availability will show. During these vacation periods, we accommodate conferences and summer schools so availability for B&B guests is limited.

  • When booking the site asks for ‘names of your group’. What does this mean?

This is the name of the person who will be staying. If you are booking for yourself, just add your name. If you are making a booking on behalf of someone else, please enter their name. If you are booking several rooms, please enter the name of each person staying.

  • Do I need to bring my booking confirmation with me?

It is helpful to have access to the booking confirmation, especially the reference number.

  • Can I be issued with a VAT receipt?

The booking confirmation you will receive includes all the necessary information required, including the VAT number. We are unable to provide any further documentation.

  • What is the difference between ensuite and standard bedrooms?

Ensuite bedrooms have their own basin, shower and toilet within the room. Standard rooms have their own basin but shared bathroom and toilet facilities. Please note: you may have to go up or down two or three flights of stairs from your bedroom to the nearest facilities.

  • What is the difference between a twin and a double room?

A twin room has two separate single beds and a double room has one large bed for two people.

  • There are different buildings and many room options available. How can I choose which one I wish to stay in?

Information is provided for each site and by room type, click the various options to see images and more details.

  • Is there a lift to access high floors?

All accommodation buildings on-site at Christ Church and the Liddell Building do not have lift access. Bedrooms can be located on the third floor – if you have any access requirements please include the details in the additional information box at the time of booking. 117 St Aldates is our only accommodation block with lift access.

  • My booking states ‘Room Only’. Can I buy a breakfast ticket?

Unfortunately, due to other commitments we are unable to offer breakfast to our ‘Room Only’ guests.

  • Can I book lunch or dinner in Hall?

Unfortunately, due to other commitments we are unable to provide any meals in Hall. The ‘Guest Information’ booklet in your bedroom provides many suggestions for local eateries.

  • Is the accommodation suitable for those with a disability?

Due to the nature of the buildings, the rooms may be unsuitable for those with mobility needs. Please contact us at conferenceoffice@chch.ox.ac.uk to discuss your requirement before booking.
