Christ Church Prepares for its First Ever Giving Day

The Giving Day is an opportunity for the Christ Church community – of alumni, fellows, students, staff, friends, and family – to come together to fully fund a DPhil place and stipend for a student who has been displaced due to conflict, persecution, or other serious human rights violations or deprivations. We are pleased to announce that the Governing Body has already pledged 50% of the total cost, meaning that every gift is effectively doubled by the College. 

Donations on Giving Day go even further thanks to our match funders, who have given very generously in advance of Giving Day in order to match donations pound for pound and create challenge incentives. Not only that, but the first £20,000 donated will be matched pound for pound, meaning that your gift goes even further.

All donors will be recognised in the annual Development Matters report, and there will be a drinks reception in London in Spring 2023 for the year group who raise the most and the year group with the highest participation rate! Those who have graduated in the last 5 years and donated to the Giving Day will be automatically enrolled in the Crankstart Society. The Society recognises young alumni who have donated to the College in the last 12 months. Crankstart Society members are invited to an annual drinks reception and networking event in London, which will take place in February 2023.

The education and opportunities offered here at Christ Church are transformative, and the Refugee Academic Futures Scholarship is a part of our work to look outward and widen access to the House. We hope that you will join us on Giving Day to make this goal a reality.
