Julia Moore elected to prestigious All Souls Fellowship
Julia Moore, a recent graduate of Christ Church, has been elected to a prestigious Fellowship by Examination at All Souls College. All Souls elects just two 'Prize Fellows' each year through a notoriously difficult competition open exclusively to recent University of Oxford graduates, often described as 'the hardest exam in the world.'
Julia came to Christ Church in 2018 to read English and French, and then stayed on to complete an MSt in Comparative Literature and Critical Translation, writing a dissertation on translation of and within Shakespeare's sonnets.
It is an honour to be elected and I am very excited to be joining the Fellows at All Souls for the next step in my academic career.

Securing the All Souls Fellowship is a remarkable achievement. Each applicant must sit a gruelling series of four three-hour examinations held over two days. Four to six finalists are then selected on the basis of performance in the examinations, each of whom must complete a viva. All Souls seeks to elect two Fellows from a field of more than 150 applicants each year, but in some years not a single candidate succeeds. Julia is the first woman graduate of Christ Church ever to be elected to the Fellowship.
The few people who secure the coveted All Souls Fellowship benefit from seven years of support and guidance to help them flourish in careers in academia and public life. Julia has set her sights on the academic path and is in the process of applying for a DPhil.
Responding to the news of her election to the All Souls Fellowship, Julia thanked her tutors at Christ Church: 'It is an honour to be elected and I am very excited to be joining the Fellows at All Souls for the next step in my academic career. I am especially grateful to Professor Mishtooni Bose, the Christopher Tower Student at Christ Church, for her encouragement during the process. My tutors at Christ Church have been fantastic: I will miss learning from them all.'
The Christ Church community would like to congratulate Julia for this great achievement. We wish her all the very best in her future endeavours.
