A new Welfare Manager for Christ Church

As the House prepares to welcome its next cohort of undergraduates, we are delighted to introduce our new Welfare Manager Adrian Childs. In his new role, Adrian coordinates the Welfare Team and is available to all members of the Christ Church community to discuss any matter in confidence, be it personal or academic.

Originally from Oxford, Adrian joins us from the charity sector. He is a qualified social worker and has previously worked in private, NHS and charity settings within learning disability and mental health teams.

Before arriving at Christ Church last month, Adrian managed mental health services for adults with complex and multiple needs across Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire. He previously studied Experimental Psychology at the University of Bristol and completed master’s degrees in Psychological Research Methods and Social Work with Oxford Brookes University.

I hope that I can bring my holistic and person-centred approach to support the welfare of the students here.

Commenting on his appointment, Adrian said: ‘It is a real pleasure to be joining the Christ Church community and I hope that I can bring my holistic and person-centred approach to support the welfare of the students here. The setting of the College is truly beautiful and inspiring, providing a stunning backdrop to study and work in.

‘I hope to be highly visible and accessible to the student body, offering individual advice but also ensuring that they are aware of the large range of support and welfare options open to them within the College, the University, and the wider local community.’
