John Drummond was born in Edgbaston, Birmingham the fourth son of William Crichton, a hardware merchant, and his wife Bessie.
John was educated at King Edward’s School, Birmingham coming up to Christ Church 1910-1913. On 18 August 1913, he arrived in New York aboard the Minnewaska aged 21 years and 10 months.
He was acting Captain in the Loyal North Lancashire Regiment, 9th Battalion and was killed on 22 March 1918. His name is on Bay 7 of the Arras Memorial.
His Estate amounted to £1036 18s 6d. Administration granted to his sister Marjorie Crichton, spinster.
One of his brothers was killed on 22 August 1917.
