Academic background
I received my cardiology and research training at Harvard and Wuerzburg Universities. I was Clinical Reader at Oxford University from 1999 to 2002 and have been Professor of Cardiovascular Medicine since 2002.
Research interests
My research interests include cardiac and multiorgan Magnetic Resonance Imaging, cardiac metabolism, heart failure, cardiomyopathies, ischemic heart disease, heart valve disease, obesity, and most recently, cardiac Computed Tomography. I was President of the Society for Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance from 2006 to 2008, and Chairman of the British Society of Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance from 2008 to 2010. I am Co-Editor of Magnetic Resonance Materials and a Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences.
