Qualifications

BA (Oxford); MSt (Oxford); DPhil (Oxford)

Academic background

I began my BA in Literae Humaniores at Greyfriars Hall, Oxford, before its closure in 2008, completing the degree at Regent’s Park College in 2010. I took MSt and DPhil degrees at Magdalen (2011–15) and was a Lecturer at Corpus Christi College, Oxford (2013–15). I then spent three years as a Junior Research Fellow at Clare Hall, Cambridge (2015–18), followed by teaching positions at Cambridge and King’s College London (2018–22). I was Associate Professor and Fellow in Classics at Downing, Cambridge (2022–23), before returning to Oxford in 2023 as Associate Professor in the Faculty of Classics and as Official Student (Tutorial Fellow) at Christ Church.

Undergraduate teaching

I teach most undergraduate papers in Greek and Latin literature for 'Mods' and 'Greats', in addition to Greek and Latin language.

Research interests

I have research interests in both Greek and Latin literature, especially Augustan poetry and the Greek novels. I’m particularly interested in the interface between Greek and Latin literary culture in the imperial period, which was the subject of my monograph, Latin Poetry in the Ancient Greek Novels (Oxford, 2021). A new project focuses on how Rome manifests in Greek literature from the Hellenistic to Late Antique periods.
