Stipendiary Lecturership in Human Geography

Opening Date
Closing Date/Time
28 April 2025 – 12:00

Christ Church invites applications for a three year fixed-term Stipendiary Lecturership in Human Geography. This is a temporary, fixed-term position to fulfil a current teaching need arising from Professor Vasudevan’s buyout during the period he will be Junior Censor. Therefore, the appointment carries with it no expectation of permanent employment at Christ Church.

Christ Church currently admits six students per year to read Geography. The person appointed will share in the teaching of Geography in Christ Church with Prof. Alexander Vasudevan and other College lecturers as appropriate.

The Lecturer will deliver six hours of tutorial teaching per week, averaged over the three eight-week terms of each academic year. The successful candidate will have a completed doctorate, or evidence that one will be substantially complete before the start date, in Geography, or a closely related field. Evidence of the skills for successful tutorial teaching, including the ability to explain problems and ideas lucidly, listen to students’ questions and views sympathetically, and enthuse and inspire them are essential.

For more information, including how to apply, please see the attached Further Particulars.
