Cathedral hosts stained glass exhibition
Earlier this month the Cathedral hosted the British Society of Master Glass Painters Centenary Exhibition, as part of the Oxford Festival of the Arts.
The touring exhibition featured over 90 artists from across the UK and overseas, each contributing a panel to the exhibition. 
The exhibition featured an incredible range of panels including both modern and traditional techniques, showing the huge range of stained glass techniques currently practiced. All the pieces were created during 2020–2021, with many featuring themes around lockdown, isolation and nature.
Founded in 1921, the British Society of Master Glass Painters (BSMGP) is the UK's only organisation devoted exclusively to the art and craft of stained glass. It promotes stained glass as an art and craft and helps preserve the stained glass heritage of Britain.
The exhibition formed part of the Oxford Festival of the Arts, an Oxford-wide festival featuring events across the city, attracting internationally renowned performers and artists, as well as local artists and up-and-coming talent.
Cathedral Public Engagement Officer Jacob Downey said: 'It’s great to have hosted the BSMGP exhibition as part of the Oxford Festival of the Arts and wonderful to have been involved in this event. The range of styles and techniques on display are quite amazing.'
The exhibition is now continuing its tour, visiting Lichfield and Manchester Cathedrals and the International Festival of Glass.
