Internationally renowned musicians present concert for Ukraine
Christ Church in conjunction with the Oxford University Ukrainian Society, presents a concert of Ukrainian songs at Christ Church Cathedral, 12 June at 20:00, following Evensong.
The programme will feature only Ukrainian songs: the music which has inspired Ukrainian identity and culture for hundreds of years.
Austrian opera singer, Maryna Lopez, originally from Werchnedneprowsk, Ukraine, has emerged in Europe as a powerful dramatic mezzo-soprano, leading her to her current engagement at the Landestheater, Linz. Her career spans Germany, Italy, and China, as well as throughout Austria and her native Ukraine. She lives in Vienna, where she completed her studies with Professor Elsa Kastela Kreishl. She will travel to Oxford especially to perform in this concert.
Alexander Taras De Sina is a world-renowned concert pianist, hailed by Holos Ukrainy as ‘A master of original interpretation…a captivating performance’. He has performed throughout the UK, US, Europe, and Asia. Born in New York of Ukrainian ancestry, he has completed two degrees at Christ Church and remains an associate member of the college and of the Cathedral.
